Directed Draft: A guided writing group
Directed Draft is a guided writing group for scholars in the social sciences and humanities. I co-run Directed Draft with Dr. Micha Rahder. The program features two core components to help participants make the most of their writing time:
Flexible group writing sessions (offered four times per week) build accountability, regularity, and connection to strengthen your writing practice
Individual coaching sessions provide personalized feedback and guidance to help you focus and advance your project
Visit Directed Draft to learn more and be notified of the next cohort, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have questions!
Directed Draft is on hiatus and will return in early 2026. Please stay tuned for the schedule announcement.
In the meantime, I’ll be running a free drop-in writing group. The group meets once a month for two hours of dedicated writing time. During the writing sessions, I’m also available for individual consultations in a private breakout room. These consultations give participants the chance to get on-the-spot feedback, work through any writing challenges that have come up, or just enjoy a friendly chat.
The group is free and open to all academic writers in the humanities and social sciences (no need to be one of my current clients). The full schedule and registration can be found here.
I hope to see you there!
Demystify and plan your book: A one-on-one book coaching program
Demystify and Plan Your Book is a one-on-one coaching program for academic authors who are developing book projects in the humanities and social sciences. The 12-week program pairs six carefully crafted modules with six 45-minute individual coaching sessions to give authors more information, confidence, and guidance as they dive into the writing process.
I run Demystify and Plan with my fellow developmental editor and writing coach, Dr. Alex Crawley. We designed the program to provide insight into practical aspects of the publication process, advice on shaping argument and structure, strategies for developing a strong authorial voice, and guidance on developing effective long-term writing practices.
Visit Demystify and Plan to learn more and register, and please get in touch with any questions.
If you’re part of an academic research or writing group, you can book me for a free one-hour information session to chat with your members. You don’t need to be a formal group with an institutional affiliation; information sessions are available to any group of scholars who want to have an informal chat with me.
Our conversation can be an ask-me-anything session where participants share any and all questions about academic writing, editing, and publication. Or, you can tailor our focus to a topic of particular interest to your group, such as a particular genre of academic writing (books, book proposals, articles, grant applications, etc.) or a specific writing concern (editing your own work, developing strong writing practices, working with a developmental editor, etc.).
Information sessions are very informal, so I won’t come prepared with a set of slides or a presentation to deliver. Rather, I’ll come ready to chat with you and answer your questions—but you and your group will direct our conversation.
To book an information session or learn more, please fill out the form below. Tell me about your group, what specific topics (if any) you think you’d like to discuss, and when you’re hoping to schedule the session. I’ll be in touch soon.
